The Belgian tamed Mont Ventoux twice on Wednesday before winning solo in Malaucène.
Wout van Aert is decidedly stunning! The Jumbo-Visma rider won one of the most prestigious stages of this 108th Tour de France on Wednesday July 7 between Sorgues and Malaucène. The Belgian was the strongest in today’s breakaway, which included Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck-Quick Step) and Kenny Elissonde (Trek-Segafredo) in particular.
After having passed the summit at the head of the first ascent of Mont Ventoux with his comrades, he left everyone behind on the second climb. The 20 kilometer descent was very well managed and Van Aert, very moved, was able to celebrate at the finish line. A special issue for an equally special rider who clinches his first stage victory on the Tour this year, the fourth in his career.
