The worst was feared after the fall in Garmisch and unfortunately arrived. Sofia Goggia will miss the Cortina World Ski Championships (8-21 February) due to Sunday’s crash in Garmisch. The 28-year-old financier from Bergamo reported a sprain-contusive trauma to her right knee and, after returning immediately to Italy, was subjected to an MRI and a computerized axial tomography at the La Madonnina clinic in Milan by doctors Herbert Schoenhuber and Andrea Panzeri of the FISI Medical Commission who showed a compound fracture of the lateral tibial plateau of the right knee.
In the next few days the exact recovery times will be evaluated, Goggia will not take part in the Cortina d’Ampezzo World Championships which will start on Monday 8 February and the rehabilitation process will begin in view of the resumption of competitive activity.
