A first victory for Lille and Strasbourg, Angers behind PSG, Clermont who remains undefeated in the top flight after their draw against Metz … Here is what should not be missed this weekend.

First success for LOSC

Things are a little better for the Mastiffs. The 2021 champions of France have imitated Strasbourg and finally hold their first victory this season. They hardly dominated Montpellier at home (2-1), the Héraultais being forced to evolve in numerical inferiority after the exclusion of Junior Sambia (73rd). It was Yusuf Yazici (45 + 1) and Jonathan David (57th) who allowed theirs to win. Enough to allow Jocelyn Gourvennec to breathe a little bit and start his season.

Angers at the top of the ranking

This is one of the big surprises of the start of the season: the SCO is in heaven. After winning against Rennes (2-0) at the Raymond-Kopa stadium, Angers still remains undefeated this season and is provisionally in first place in the standings, just ahead of PSG.

The Angevins took advantage of the expulsion of Loïc Badé just before the break to score two goals in the second half (Boufal, 57th and Cho, 88th). Former Lille Sofiane Boufal has now scored two goals in his last three matches in Ligue 1. Note also the very good performance of goalkeeper Paul Bernardoni, who repelled several Rennes attempts to allow his teammates to maintain their lead.

First success for Strasbourg

Strasbourg is finally launching its season, to the delight of its supporters. With a very good collective pressing, Julien Stéphan’s men dominated Brest on Sunday afternoon (3-1), and offered their first victory this season thanks to goals from Sanjin Prcic (23rd), Jean- Kevin Duverne (csc, 41st) and Adrien Thomasson (83rd).

Ludovic Ajorque and his teammates had not won a single match at La Meinau since March 3, 2021, against Monaco. With this precious success, the Strasbourg people leave the relegation zone. For their part, the players of Michel Der Zakarian continue with a fourth consecutive game without a win.

Clermont still undefeated

This is the second surprise of the start of the season. After snatching a draw against Metz (2-2), Clermont rose to the podium. The promoted Auvergne (3rd provisionally), who has still not lost in the top flight this season, recovered in just half an hour a handicap of two goals thanks to the achievements of Niakaté (35th) and Rashani (58th), already double scorer against Lyon last weekend. For its part, Metz has still not gleaned a single success this season.
