According to News i Agency’s International Group, Mahmoud al-Rubaye, a spokesman for the political bureau of the Asaeb Ahl al-Haq movement in Iraq, reacted to US sanctions against the movement.
Al-Rubaye told Al-Ahd News Network that US sanctions against Asaeb are in fact a kind of war between right and wrong.
“We do not expect anything from them,” he said, adding that Asaeb was not surprised by US sanctions.
The Iraqi official believes that US sanctions represent the extent of the defeat that US governments have suffered in the Middle East.
A spokesman for Asaeb’s political bureau also said that “whatever they do will not affect us; “Because we are as strong as the short.”
“The United States wants a ‘poor Iraq,'” he said, adding that “Washington wants the Iraqi youth to have no jobs.”
Al-Rubaye noted that the United States is “concerned about the political presence of the resistance and that is why it is seeking to escape … of course the government.” [عراق] “It is also weak and unable to withstand US pressure.”
The State Department on Monday issued a statement announcing sanctions against Iraqi resistance groups, two Syrian companies and several Russian companies, for publication in the US Federal Government’s official gazette.
Although the State Department said the sanctions were imposed on July 29 against the groups, the US government has not previously covered the issue.
The new sanctions are in line with the US government’s continued crackdown on resistance groups. The Biden government has twice before attacked positions of Iraqi resistance groups.
