A spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces announced the end of an operation to clear Al-Jawf province on the Saudi border.
Yahya Sari, a spokesman for Ansar al-Islam's Yemeni armed forces, said the final phase of Operation Impossible, including clearing the Al-Lubnat, al-Aqsa, al-Khasf and neighboring areas, was reported by News i's Al-Masira news network, News i reported. Al-Maraziq and al-Muhsimah are in al-Jawf province, where about 1,200 mercenaries have been killed.
Yahya Sari also stressed that the area of the liberated areas includes 3,500 square kilometers of the Al-Hazm Desert and the “Well and Happiness” areas.
He added: “Al-Jawf Desert is the most important hideout for Al-Qaeda and ISIS, supported by the United States, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.”
Yahya Sari stressed the importance of the Al-Lubnat camp in that it is the last refuge for mercenaries in Al-Jawf, the key to the province of Ma'rib. Yemen is fighting them.
A Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman also said: “We have strategic options that make the enemy regret its tensions.” They must bear the consequences of their actions, and enemy fighters have carried out more than 256 attacks on Al-Jawf province from late March to early April.
