Turkish security sources said today (Tuesday) that at least 71 suspects linked to the Foto organization have been arrested during operations across Turkey.
According to News i, ترکیه quoted by Anatolia News Agency, after Turkish prosecutors issued an arrest warrant for 36 people suspected of having links with the group of Fethullah Gulen, Rouhani in exile and opposition to the Turkish government, simultaneous operational police teams were deployed in five provinces. Turkey did and arrested 25 suspects.
The suspects have been charged with sponsoring photos and others using the group’s messenger. Investigators have concluded that three suspects have fled Turkey and are working to track down eight more suspects.
In an operation in Izmir, security forces arrested 35 photo suspects, including a former wanted police chief, ousted judges and soldiers.
The suspects frequently relocated to avoid arrest. Several documents, documents and cash were also seized during the raid by security forces. Turkish security forces also arrested 10 other suspects in several provinces.
Ankara is accused by Foto and Gulen of complicity in the failed July 15, 2016 coup against the Turkish government, but the Turkish-American cleric denies the allegations. Several hundred people have since been arrested on suspicion of links to Gulen and his organization.
